<h4 class=""><a href="https://apply.interfolio.com/100900" class="">Assistant Professor of Auditory Neuroscience, Tenure Track</a></h4>
<p class="">The <a href="https://www.pennmedicine.org/departments-and-centers/otorhinolaryngology" class="">Department of Otorhinolaryngology: Head and Neck Surgery</a> at the <a href="https://www.pennmedicine.org/" class="">Perelman School of Medicine</a> at
the <a href="http://upenn.edu/" class="">University of Pennsylvania</a> seeks candidates for an <a href="https://apply.interfolio.com/100900" class="">Assistant Professor position in the tenure track</a>. Expertise is required in the specific area of systems
neuroscience with a focus on identifying the neural correlates of hearing function or dysfunction with an emphasis on identifying the causal relationships between neural activity in individual neurons and/or circuits and learning or behavior. Particular areas
of interest include computational neuroscience and translational approaches. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree.</p>
<p class="">Teaching responsibilities may include training of graduate students and post-doctoral investigators.</p>
<p class="">Research or scholarship responsibilities may include building an independent research program in basic and/or translational studies in auditory neuroscience. Scholarship should include peer-reviewed publications and presentations of work at scientific
meetings and other venues. The selected candidate will be expected to develop interactions with investigators not only <a href="https://www.med.upenn.edu/pennhearing/" class="">in the department</a>, but within the greater <a href="https://mindcore.sas.upenn.edu/" class="">neuroscience
community in the Perelman School of Medicine</a> (e.g. the <a href="http://cni.upenn.edu/" class="">Computational Neuroscience Institute</a>) and across the University campus. Ideally, the candidate should have the vision and ability to effectively interact
with clinicians to establish and foster translational research programs within their research discipline. </p>
<p class="">The ideal candidate should have completed advanced postdoctoral training or be an early career investigator with an exceptional record of research achievement demonstrating a trajectory for success in academic medicine. Key selection criteria will
be in research excellence and originality of science. There is opportunity for a secondary appointment in a basic science department for the successful candidate. </p>
<p class="">Candidates with a keen interest in building interdisciplinary programs through interactions across the basic and clinical departments within the Perelman School of Medicine, as well as other health-related schools at the University of Pennsylvania,
are encouraged to apply.</p>
