/ programmer to work with Drs. Alex Bowers and Jing Xu in the Mobility Enhancement and Vision Rehabilitation Center of Excellence. The position is initially available for two years.<o:p></o:p></span></a></p>

<p style="margin:0in"><span lang="EN">The successful candidate will make major contributions to projects evaluating the effects of vision impairment on driving performance (including scanning behaviors, responses to hazards and steering control). Studies will
mostly be conducted within the controlled environment of a high-fidelity driving simulator and will mostly focus on hemianopic field loss (e.g., following a stroke) and central field loss (e.g., from macular degeneration).
</span>Studies will address the effects of the impairments as well as the development and evaluation of devices, advanced driver assistance technology, and training to assist visually impaired people when driving.
<span style="color:black">All studies involve working with large data sets. </span>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif;color:black">Requirements include a PhD, excellent programming skills (e.g., MatLab), strong quantitative skills, and a strong research background in a relevant field (such
as eye and head movement research, neuroscience, driving research, vision research, psychology, engineering, computer science). Ideal candidates will be highly motivated, good communicators with excellent interpersonal skills, and have a keen interest in working
with people with vision impairments. Experience of using driving simulators or eye and head tracking would be advantageous.
