<p class="MsoNormal"><span lang="EN-US">When using different colours for multiple lines in a line graph on a white background, it seems intuitively clear (and also based on observation) that the effective discriminability between the lines differs from the
 case where the same colours are presented as adjacent patches of a larger area. Thin lines have a much smaller spatial frequency than the patches and they are surrounded by a white background.

I would expect that the effective discrimination threshold do not only depend on the chromatic distance but also on the line width and the contrast of the background.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
