The Bio-inspired Computer Vision research group (Prof. Dr. Gunther 
Heidemann)
of the Institute of Cognitive Science invites applications for

     2 Research Assistants (m/f/d)
     (Salary level E 13 TV-L, 50 %)

to be filled as soon as possible for a period until December 05, 2021.
Description of Responsibilities:

The position involves participation in the research activities of the EU
funded project "KLIX". The project investigates Deep Learning methods for
the detection and classification of faces in images of limited resolution
and quality. The position comprises the investigation and implementation
of Machine Learning algorithms in the highly interdisciplinary field of
Computer Vision as well as the cooperation with industry partners.

Required Qualifications:
* Candidates are expected to have an excellent academic degree
   (Master/Diploma), knowledge in at least one of the above fields,
   as well as good programming skills.
* A good command of the English language is mandatory.

     Research Assistant (Ph.D. student level) (m/f/d)
             (Salary level E 13 TV-L 50%)

to be filled as soon as possible for a period of 3 years.

The position allows for further scientific qualification (Ph.D,
alternatively the German doctorate degree).

The Biologically Oriented Computer Vision Group conducts research
mainly in the fields of:
* Visual learning, in particular, semi-supervised training for
   view based object recognition,
* Deep Learning algorithms for Computer Vision,
* Cognitively motivated vision architectures,
* Video Analysis,
* Visual Analytics,
* Auditory Display/Sonification of video data.

Description of Responsibilities:
* The successful candidate will be involved in several research
   projects and may supervise B.Sc. and M.Sc. projects.
* The position involves teaching Cognitive Science courses
   at B.Sc. and M.Sc. level (2 hours/week).
