The research group for Applied Physics and Neurophysics of Frank Bremmer at Philipps-Universität Marburg, Germany, invites applications for the position of a

PostDoc

The position is offered for a period of 2 years (If no former times of qualification must be considered). The starting date is as soon as possible. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public service position in the state Hesse, Germany (TV-H E 13, 100 %).

The postdoctoral candidate will carry out neurophysiological recordings in non-human primates in combination with computational approaches (machine learning). The project focuses on, but is not limited to, sensorimotor processing in the head-unrestrained preparation.

The position will be filled by a temporary contract that is limited to the period which is necessary to gain further scientific expertise (such as the preparation for a subsequent qualification period). Within the entrusted tasks the opportunity for independent scientific work to obtain further personal qualification is given. The limitation of the contract complies to § 2 Abs. 1 WissZeitVG.

Applicants should be interested in the study of higher-level vision and/or sensorimotor processing and have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or a related discipline, and a promising track record. Experience in NHP-neurophysiology as well as in MATLAB/Python programming is expected. Experience in computational approaches (e.g. machine learning) is a plus.

We support women and strongly encourage them to apply. In areas where women are under-represented, female applicants will be preferred in case of equal qualifications. Applicants with children are welcome – Philipps-University is certified as a family-friendly university.
