The Graduate Program in Physiological Optics and Vision Science at the University of Houston College of Optometry in Houston TX is now welcoming applications for its doctoral and master of science programs for Fall 2021.
The deadline for applications for Fall 2021 is February 1, 2021<https://www.opt.uh.edu/future-students-residents/programs/graduate-program/how-to-apply/> (contact us for late applications):
The Graduate Program<https://www.opt.uh.edu/future-students-residents/programs/graduate-program/> provides students with a broad base of knowledge in the vision sciences, as well as the resources and environment for students to develop expertise in specific areas of interest in biomedical science related to vision. Students receive tuition fellowships and graduate research and teaching assistant stipends. Graduate students work side-by side with a diverse and active group of basic, clinical and translational vision Research Faculty<https://www.opt.uh.edu/research-at-uhco/research-faculty/> using state-of-the-art experimental approaches.
Research areas include studies of

* normal and abnormal monocular and binocular vision and eye movements in humans and animal models

* basic, clinical and translational research on the ocular surface and anterior segment, inflammation and contact lenses

* visual optics, including high resolution imaging of ocular structures, myopia, accommodation, metrics for evaluating image quality

* structure/function relations in diseases that affect the retina and optic nerve in humans and in animal models of disease, such as glaucoma

* neuroscience, molecular and cellular biology of vision, mechanisms for injury, repair or regeneration of ocular tissues.
Educational requirements include a minimum of a B.S. degree (or equivalent) in biological or physical sciences or engineering, optometry or medicine. Research experience in vision or related sciences is desirable.
