The Wilmer Eye Institute, the ophthalmology department of the Johns Hopkins 
University School of Medicine, is inviting applications for a new position in 
the rank of  

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (SCHOLARLY TRACK) 

within the Lions Vision Research and Rehabilitation Center, Wilmer's Low Vision 
division. The LVRRC is a small and highly dynamic and multidisciplinary group 
with a 30+ year history in low vision research and clinical excellence. The 
Wilmer Eye Institute and the JHU School of Medicine provide a highly supportive 
and collaborative research environment, with a strong emphasis on strengthening 
the diversity of its faculty through equitable opportunities regardless of 
background or identity.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a PhD in vision science or a related 
discipline; a strong commitment to translational work bringing new and 
validated diagnostic and treatment procedures to patients with visual 
impairment; and a commitment to working with researchers and clinicians across 
ophthalmic subspecialties.  Strong analytical and coding skills and experience 
in modeling, functional assessment, patient reported outcomes, and statistical 
analysis, as well as a track record of prior funding and peer-reviewed 
publications will be major criteria in applicant evaluation.
