The School of Optometry of the Université de Montréal invites applications for a full-time faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor for an initial period of 3 years. Within that period the candidate must succeed in obtaining a salary grant, such as the Research Scholar Career Award from the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQ-S). The renewal of the employment contract will be contingent on receiving the Career Award.

Responsibilities:

The successful candidate should demonstrate a high level of productivity and have the capability to build an autonomous funded research program. He/she will also be expected to supervise Masters and Doctoral students in the Vision Science program and to participate in teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels. Although the School encourages applications in all domains of vision science, it would be preferable for the candidate's research to be complementary to the research activities of the other faculty members of the School, which include vision neuroscience, visual function, impairment and rehabilitation. The ideal candidate would be able to use imaging techniques to address fundamental questions about the structure and function of the visual system. The School of Optometry is particularly interested in candidates who could integrate the use of imaging techniques with other methods such as behavioural measures, animal research, modeling, and genetics. He or she would also participate in outreach activities (publications and conferences) and contribute to the University service.

Requirements:

.	Must have Ph.D. in Vision Science or in a related field
.	Post-doctoral studies and in-depth knowledge of the stated area of expertise
.	Qualifications required to obtain a salary grant as offered by FRQ-S and other funding institutions
.	Evidence of excellence in publications
.	Teaching experience at the university level is desirable

Salary: The Université de Montréal offers a competitive salary and a complete range of employee benefits.

Starting Date: From September, 2017

Interested individuals should send a completed application, including curriculum vitae, a covering letter describing their proposed research program, as well as three (3) reference letters to the mailing address, or preferably, to the e-mail below by March 30, 2017, at the latest.
