Postdoc Position in Medical Image Analysis
Biomedical Computer Vision Group, University of Heidelberg and DKFZ, Germany

The research group Biomedical Computer Vision (BMCV)
at the University of Heidelberg and the DKFZ currently offers
a PostDoc position in the field of Medical Image Analysis.
The task is to develop methods and software programs
for non-rigid registration of high-resolution histological images
of the brain. Accurate image registration is important for
reconstruction of fiber tracts and establishing a high-resolution
3D model of the brain. Main challenges of image registration
are the huge amount of multi-modal image data at different
resolutions as well as the special characteristics of histological
brain images comprising geometric distortions, artifacts, and
intensity inhomogeneities. The focus of the work is on spline-based
registration methods. The work is carried out within the project
Supercomputing and Modeling for the Human Brain (SMHB)
in the context of the Human Brain Project (HBP) in close cooperation
with scientists at the Research Center Jülich (FZJ).

The BMCV group develops methods and algorithms for automated
analysis of biological and medical images (e.g., segmentation,
tracking, registration, and machine learning).

Successful candidates must have a PhD in Computer Science,
Medical Informatics, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering,
or a related discipline. We expect experience and a track record
in Medical Image Analysis and/or image registration, very good
mathematical and programming skills, and very good oral and
written communication skills in English. Candidates should be
highly motivated, able to work independently, team-minded,
and interested in interdisciplinary research.
The salary of the position is according to TVL13. The position
is immediately available and the contract will run until 31.3.2018.
