Post-doctoral position in Retinal Neurophysiology

The School of Optometry is seeking a highly motivated individual to work on an NIH-funded study of the structure and function of neural circuits in the mammalian retina in the lab of Prof. Teresa Puthussery. The project will focus on the role of glutamate receptors and voltage-gated ion channels in generating the response properties of neurons within the major pathways of the primate retina. The studies will utilize single-cell electrophysiology and imaging methods as well as immunohistochemistry and protein biochemistry.

Basic Qualifications

At the time of application, individuals must have completed all requirements for their Ph.D, or foreign equivalent, in neuroscience, vision science, biology, physics, engineering or related disciplines, except their dissertation.
Additional Qualifications

By the appointment start date, the successful candidate must be able to provide proof of their completed PhD, or foreign equivalent, in one of the above fields.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience or interest in visual neurophysiology
Experience with patch-clamp electrophysiology, calcium imaging, optogenetics, multi-electrode recordings or other functional recording methods
Experience with programming and data analysis in software packages such as FIJI, Igor Pro, Matlab
Experience with high resolution imaging methods such as confocal or super- resolution microscopy
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
