Professor Ione Fine (Psychology) and Assistant Professor Matthew Winn (Speech & Hearing Sciences) at the University of Washington, Seattle are seeking postdoctoral students for investigations of auditory perception in people who are blind. No specific start date, so students in the later stages of their PhD are welcome to apply.
We will consider students with a wide range of interests but are particularly interested in individuals who want to use computational neuroimaging and psychophysical techniques to examine auditory processing in blind individuals, who have an appropriate background.
Both laboratories are located in Seattle WA. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a related area such as neuroscience, psychoacoustics, audiology, hearing science, vision science, audio engineering, signal processing, or another closely related discipline. Special consideration will be given to those who have experience in programming and/or who are experienced in interacting with people with a wide range of sensory abilities.
Students will receive strong mentorship in vision and auditory science and extensive training in neuroimaging, computational neuroscience, binaural hearing and translational work on the neural effects of vision loss.
