Position: Visual Experience Engineer 

Job Summary: 
The display “Visual Experience” team, within the Imaging and Sensing Hardware team at Apple, is looking for an enthusiastic engineer to lead the development of novel display technologies. The role involves hardware experience prototyping and software-hardware integration with the eventual goal of bringing new technologies to the mass consumer market. The team features a collaborative and hands-on environment that fosters engineering excellence, creativity, and innovation in the interdisciplinary areas of image processing, color science, vision science, optics, etc. The role is highly cross-functional in nature and involves collaboration with other teams at Apple including software engineering, product design, and industrial design.

Key Responsibilities:

-  Prototype new applications and experiences for emerging displays

-  Explore novel display applications and features

-  Design and carry out user studies to test novel display technologies

-  Work with other teams at Apple to bring new product features to market

-  Identify and evaluate new research and engineering areas to enhance user experience

Key Qualifications:

-  MS or PhD in vision science, computer graphics, imaging, computer vision, optics, or

-  a related field

-  Proficiency in MATLAB, C++, Python, or object-oriented programming language

-  Strong analytical & critical thinking and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

-  Experience using depth sensing or eye tracking is a plus

-  Prior hands-on experience of prototyping novel hardware setups

-  Experience of designing and conducting human perceptual related experiments

-  Experience in SDK programming for hardware interfaces is a plus

-  Experience in human psychophysics and experimental design

-  Experience with algorithm development is a big plus
