FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM

Our goal is to restore function to the blind and visually impaired. To this end, we dedicate our
research to investigating the functional implications of vision loss, early screening and access
to treatments, optimizing rehabilitation therapies and developing accessibility technology.

Deadline to Apply is November 17, 2017.

Two postdoctoral fellowships will differing focus in vision science/engineering and visual health policy are available.

ERI is a uniquely attractive place to receive postdoctoral training in vision-related research, as training includes an immersion in Envision's many resources in Wichita, Kansas, which include a vision clinic, low vision rehabilitation services, early childhood development center, outreach and clinical education, and employment for the blind and visually impaired.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree at the time of award (PhD, MD, OD, OTD, JD) in engineering, computer science, psychology, vision science, epidemiology, social sciences or related fields. Awards are up to 2 years in duration. Training and research is conducted at ERI, however the fellow is encouraged to work with an external mentor and may travel to his/her mentor's institution for up to 6 months each year.

To receive feedback on your project proposal prior to application, you may submit a Letter of Intent and CV to research at envisionus.com<mailto:research at envisionus.com>.

Letters of Intent should not exceed two (2) pages, and must contain a brief description of the following:

*       Description of the applicant and his/her background

*       Brief description of the intended research project and how it addresses the mission of Envision

*       Proposed external mentor(s) and what new training they would support for the fellow

*       List of topical areas relevant to the research (for guiding appointment of selection committee)

*       Applicant's CV (not part of 2 page limit)
