Call for Papers

We are pleased to announce that the deadline for the full paper submission
has been extended until March 31, 2018 for the research topic " *Brain
Function: From Experimental and Computational Neuroscience to Brain
Engineering*". The accepted papers will be published in the following
Journals of Frontiers:

*Frontiers in Systems Neuroscience*

*About the Research Topic:*

The brain and its neural circuitry are among the most complex and perplexing
natural systems. A main question in neuroscience is how such complex
systems processes the incoming multi-sensory as well as stored mnemonic
information to direct behavior, and how one can model, replicate and even
repair the function of this system. In recent decades, various pieces of
the puzzle from sensory, cognitive and motor domains have been extensively
studied, analyzed and modeled in different biological and animal models.

This Research Topic is intended to cover recent directions and activities
in the field of neuroscience dedicated to modeling the neural mechanisms of
brain function.

We welcome submissions of different research methodologies: from
systems/cognitive and computational neuroscience to neuroimaging and neural
engineering. Original research and reviews, as well as theoretical works,
methods, and modeling articles are welcome. The research work includes
experimental studies using state-of-the-art in electrophysiology and
neuroimaging as well as experimental-based computational or theoretical
work and biologically inspired neural networks.
