*Call for Presentations and Posters*
We call for extended abstracts for oral presentations and for posters.
Submissions should be written in English, and be formatted according to
the formatting guidelines below. Contributions must be submitted by May
1st 2018 via the EasyChair submission webpage:
https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=kogwis2018
All submissions will be peer-reviewed by members of the review
committee. Acceptance will be based on novelty of research, significance
of results, and quality of presentation. Accepted abstracts will be
published in the online conference proceedings. All accepted
contributions must be presented at the conference. So at least one
author must register by the early registration deadline or the
contribution will not be included in the program.
The best submissions to KogWis 2018 will be selected for oral
presentation at the conference.
*Call for Symposia*
Submission is now open for proposals for symposia to be presented at
KOGWIS2018. The deadline for submitting a symposium proposals is May
11th, 2018. A symposium should involve several presenters, typically
4-5, organized around a topic of interest. Symposia may be on any topic
in cognitive science. The KOGWIS program committee will strive for
quality, variety, innovation, and diversity of the program; special
emphasis will be put on this year's topic: computational approaches to
cognitive science.
Please submit proposals for a symposium directly as a single abstract
for the symposium topic. On the second page of the abstract, please list
the speakers who will be participating in the symposium and the title of
their contributions.
Send the the two page abstract via e-mail with the subject "Symposium
proposal" directly to:
kogwis2018 at cogsci.tu-darmstadt.de
*Call for Tutorials*
We invite proposals for tutorials to be held at KOGWIS2018. The KOGWIS
program committee is interested in tutorials that disseminate
information to conference attendees on recently emerging topics and
trends as well as foundation topics, provide surveys of complementary
techniques to those commonly studied in cognitive science, and inform
attendees on the state-of-the-art within the field. We encourage
submissions of proposals on topics in the general areas of cognitive
science but particularly encourage tutorials on computational approaches
to cognitive science.
Please submit proposals for a tutorial directly as one abstract for the
tutorial topic according to the same guidelines as regular abstracts via
e-mail with the subject "Tutorial proposal" directly to:
kogwis2018 at cogsci.tu-darmstadt.de
*GK Best Paper Award (2016-2018)*
The GK Best Paper Award is awarded for the best publication in cognitive
science by a young investigator whose PhD has been awarded within the
last three years or who is still earning a PhD. Applications are
accepted for peer reviewed papers, which have been accepted for
publication or have been published since May 2016.
Applications should be submitted by June 1st 2018 via e-mail to the head
of the GK (vs1 at gk-ev.de) and include a single PDF document with:
- the published paper,
- the publication data or the notification of acceptance of the journal
or conference,
- a CV including publication record.
The prize will be awarded at KogWis 2018 and the awardee will be given
the opportunity to present their work in a dedicated program slot.
*GK Best Poster & Presentation Award*
Each paper accepted for publication at KogWis 2018 will be eligible for
the KogWis 2018 Best Paper Award. There will be three awards in total:
1st place 250 €, 2nd place 150 €, 3rd place 100 €.
*GK Student travel award*
The GK society sponsors four student travel grants for student members
of the GK to attend KogWis. Students need to be or become a member of
the GK to be eligible. The travel to KogWis 2018 will be supported by an
amount of 250€. Selection Criteria are: involvement at the conference
(paper or poster contribution) & application date. Please send your
application to kogwis2018 at cogsci.tu-darmstadt.de with the subject
"KogWis Student Travel Grant Application".
KogWis 2018 will be held in Darmstadt, Germany, and invites submissions
of extended abstracts on current work in cognitive science. Generally
all topics related to cognitive science are welcome. Contributions that
address the focus of this meeting, that is, computational cognitive
science are particularly encouraged. Computational approaches to
cognitive science emphasize formalizing adaptive and intelligent
behavior and have strong ties to machine learning and artificial
intelligence.
*Confirmed keynote speakers:*
Frances Egan (Rutgers University)
Noah Goodman (Stanford University)
Mate Legyel (University of Cambridge)
Iris van Rooij (Radboud University Nijmegen)
Christopher Summerfiled (University of Oxford)
