We are seeking candidates for a 1-year position (Assegno di ricerca) in 
Computer Science at University of Genoa, Italy, in the field of 
Human-Computer Interaction in AR and VR.

Title of the Research: Techniques for interaction in virtual, augmented 
and mixed reality environments

Description:

The main aim of this research activity is to develop methods and 
techniques to build innovative
Augmented and Virtual Reality  applications, which allow people to 
achieve a natural interaction in such environments. In particular, the 
aim is to design and implement algorithms and techniques:

- to manipulate real objects, eventually sensorized to give haptic and 
force feedback, enriched by virtual contents. Part of the research 
activity could also be the design of such sensorized objects.
- to walk in enriched environments, where users can interact with both 
virtual and real objects on the ground plane;
- to visualize virtual contents by using wearable devices (optical or 
video see through) and spatial projection techniques.

In order to achieve effective and ecological interaction within such 
systems, specific real-time calibration and registration procedures 
should be implemented.

The activity will be carried on at the Dept. of Informatics, 
Bioengineering, Robotics, and Systems Engineering (DIBRIS), University 
of Genoa, Italy.

Requirements:
A master degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical 
Engineering or equivalent is required. Although not mandatory, a PhD 
degree would be an add-on.
Fundamentals of Virtual and Augmented Reality, Computer Vision 
algorithms and tecnhiques for calibration, camera pose estimation, 
feature detection and tracking, and good skills in programming are required.

Annual gross salary € 23.250,00 . The position may be renewed for a 
second year.
