A fully funded PhD position is available on High Resolution fMRI of Early
Visual Cortex, in Wollongong, Australia, in the lab of Dr. Mark Schira at

Topics
The research topic will focus around advanced fMRI on early visual cortex,
spanning from retinotopic organization, foveal vision, high-resolution
fMRI, laminar BOLD analysis, contour perception, modeling of visual cortex
organization and image correction techniques.

report. Applications will be considered until a suitable candidate is
found. Start date is negotiable.

Eligibility
The scholarship is open equally to domestic and international applicants.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor of Honours or a Masters degree in
psychology, neuroscience, biomedical engineering, biophysics, computer
science or related disciplines. The successful applicant should demonstrate
excellent research capability, and strong analytical and communication
skills.
Selection criteria
1. An Honours degree or equivalent (i.e. a 4-year Bachelor degree with
high GPA), or a Masters degree.
2. Good oral and written communication skills (English).
3. Programming skills (MATLAB, C or C++ or similar)
4. Research experience with either fMRI or vision science.
Remuneration
This is a 3.5-year scholarship; it includes a standard living stipend of
$25,849 per year and a tuition award.
