Display Instrumentation System Engineer Job Summary

Apple’s Instrumentation System Engineer is a terrific position for someone passionate about technology. Have you imagined yourself to be the designer of world's best display measurement system?

You will be a part of the Display Calibration and Instrumentation group to develop customized solutions for calibrating, characterizing, and testing displays for iPhone, iPad, Watch, iMac, MacBooks, HomePods and more. You are responsible for developing optical system solutions that is flexible and mass-production friendly to calibrate and inspect fully-assembled devices. You will work on system design, development, and factory deployment during new product in- troduction (NPI) stage, with the support from SW/HW functional teams. Be one of the first peo- ple in the world to witness new Apple products coming together for the first time.

Responsibilities

Develop industry-leading display calibration and measurement methodology, process and solutions

Define display calibration & measurement ERS, together with display design teams

Lead and drive all system design and development based on above ERS, with the sup-

ports from functional teams including mechanical design, SW, instrumentation, display

design and operation team etc

Specify and acquire equipments, components and tools for the systems

Lead the qualification and improvement of the developed systems. Conduct station HW/

SW issues FA from system level down to the component level

Deploy the stations to factories in NPI stage

Analyze large amounts of NPI display performance data and generate system design im-

provement plan

Key Qualifications

Deep understanding of imaging system and display technology

Familiarity with optical metrology tools, e.g. colorimeters, spectrometers, digital camera

and light sources

Broad range of knowledge in imaging and non-imaging optics, image processing, display,

color science and software

Professional experiences in display or camera test system development is a huge plus

Programming skills in one or more of OpenCV, MATLAB and C. Object oriented soft-

ware skills in languages such as Objective-C, Python is a plus

Excellent interpersonal skills; clear technical communications with teammates, self-moti-

vated and very responsible in work you're doing

Strong leadership and problem solving ability

Positive outlook and eager to stepping into uncharted technology space and work hard to

deliver solutions in a timely fashion

The position requires some international travel (up to 20%)

Education

BS/MS/PhD in EE/CS/Physics/Optics/Color Science

3+ years of industry experience required for BS
