A postdoctoral position is available in the Vision and Memory Lab of Dr.
Timothy Brady (http://bradylab.ucsd.edu/), potentially in collaboration
with the lab of Dr. Viola Störmer (http://stoermerlab.ucsd.edu/) at the UC
San Diego Department of Psychology. Initial appointment is for one year,
with flexible start date and opportunity for renewal.

The Brady lab’s research lies at the intersection of visual cognition and
memory. Particular research topics include the nature of visual working
memory; the format of visual long-term memory representations, including
models of recognition memory; and the relationship between ensemble
statistics and visual scene recognition and visual memory. The lab uses a
variety of methodologies in the lab, including psychophysics, computational
modeling and EEG.

The Störmer lab’s research aims to understand the cognitive and neural
mechanisms of human perception, selective attention, and multisensory
processing. Particular research topics focus on understanding and
characterizing our perceptual and cognitive abilities, as well as their
capacity limitations, including visual attention and crossmodal attention.
The lab studies these topics using a combination of psychophysics,
experimental psychology, and EEG.

We are seeking highly qualified individuals with a recent or
soon-to-be-acquired Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology,
Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science), strong quantitative and
technical skills, and interests in visual cognition, visual perception and
attention and/or memory. Proficiency in programming is necessary (e.g.
Matlab, Python, Javascript, or R).

Ideal postdoctoral scholars would have experience with EITHER (1) models of
recognition memory (signal detection, recollection/familiarity, etc.)
and/or models of visual working memory (mixture models, etc), for a project
primarily with the Brady lab, OR (2) experience with EEG, including
experience in the domains of visual attention and visual working memory or
long-term recognition memory, for a project with the Störmer lab.

Interested candidates should send a CV, a brief statement of research
interests, the expected date of availability, and the names and contact
info of at least two references to visionandmemory at gmail.com

Salary is based on research experience. UCSD is an equal opportunity
employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for
employment without regard to race, religion, color, national origin, sex,
sexual orientation, gender identity, age, status as a protected veteran, or
status as a qualified individual with a disability.
