(Call for applications) International PhD workshop (June 6 - 7): “The Influences of Motivation and Emotion on Visual Processing”

The Affective Neuroscience and Psychophysiology (ANaP) Lab<https://www.psych.uni-goettingen.de/en/anap/lab> is pleased to announce the 3rd edition of the international PhD workshop “The Influences of Motivation and Emotion on Visual Processing”. The 2-day workshop will take place from 6th to 7th of June 2019 at the University of Göttingen, Germany, and is supported by the U4 network<http://www.u4network.eu/>. Participating groups include the Cognitive and Affective Psychophysiology (CAP) Lab (Ghent),<https://www.cap-lab.be/nl/home> the Cognitive Neuroscience Lab (Groningen),<https://www.rug.nl/staff/s.mathot/research/publications.html> the Perception and Cognition group (Goettingen)<http://www.eni.gwdg.de/groups/perception-and-cognition> and the ANaP Lab (Göttingen).

The workshop will focus on the question, how visual perception is sharpened by motivational, emotional and attentional influences, and how these multiple factors are integrated in the brain, in the service of adaptive behaviour. The programme will consist of multiple formats, including short presentations of the PhD students' individual projects, position and overview presentations of senior scientists, and round table discussions. Confirmed speakers are Rasha Abdel Rahman (Berlin), Sebastiaan Mathot (Groningen), Arezoo Pooresmaeili (Goettingen), Gilles Pourtois (Ghent), Annekathrin Schacht (Goettingen), and Matthias Wieser (Rotterdam).

Call for applications

The workshop is open to 3 additional attendees. If you are interested, please send us a short application, incl. a CV and an abstract summarizing your PhD project (max 250 words), by email to schacht at psych.uni-goettingen.de<mailto:schacht at psych.uni-goettingen.de>, before May 10, 2019. Participation is free. Costs for accommodation have to be covered by the attendee but we can help with the organization. Please feel free to pass this information along to students potentially interested.
