Dear colleagues,

Please forward this announcement of a postdoctoral position to anyone who
might be interested. Any interested candidates who are attending the
upcoming VSS meeting should feel free to get in touch with me about meeting
in person.

The Visual Cognition Laboratory <http://emilyward.org>, directed by Dr.
Emily Ward and located in the Department of Psychology at the University of
Wisconsin - Madison, is seeking a postdoctoral fellow. Initial appointment
is for one year, with flexible start date (as early as Summer 2019) and
opportunity for renewal.

The Visual Cognition Laboratory explores the nature of human visual
processing, with an emphasis on the ways in which high-level perception
interacts with and constrains other processes in the mind. Particular
research topics include the transformation of neural representations, the
relationship between ensemble statistics and visual awareness, and the
similarities and differences between human perception and “perception” in
Deep Neural Networks. The lab studies these topics using a combination of
psychophysics, experimental psychology, computational modeling, and
neuroimaging (fMRI and MEG).

We are seeking highly qualified individuals with a recent or
soon-to-be-acquired Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., Psychology,
Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science), strong quantitative and
technical skills, and interests in visual cognition, visual perception
and/or attention. Proficiency in programming is necessary (Python and R
experience is a plus). Preferred candidates will also have experience with
human neuroimaging (fMRI), although there is the opportunity to learn
neuroimaging during the position.

Interested candidates should send a CV, a brief statement of research
interests, the expected date of availability, and the names and contact
info of at least two references to ejward at wisc.edu. Review of applications
will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled.
