The Eye, The Brain & The Auto: Henry Ford Health System Issues Call for Research Abstracts from Healthcare and Automotive Experts

DETROIT – The Detroit Institute of Ophthalmology, the research arm of Henry Ford Health System’s Department of Ophthalmology, is accepting abstracts for The Eye, The Brain & The Auto 9th World Research Congress on Health and Modern Mobility: Autonomous Vehicles, Driver’s Fitness to Function, and Naturalistic Driving Methods to be held Dec. 7-8, 2020. This will be a virtual event.

For many years, this research congress has focused on automobile drivers’ vision and it will continue to accept abstracts in this field. In 2018 The Eye, The Brain & The Auto took a unique look at the role the technology enabling autonomous mobility might play in healthcare and wellness. In 2020 it will again consider that complex question.

The planning committee is seeking presenters from healthcare and the automotive industry who are willing to tackle tough questions in these study fields. Examples of research questions abstracts might address with current data or with proposed initiatives include:

· Abstracts related to naturalistic driving especially as they focus on health, wellness, and driver functional assessment

· Abstracts related to driver’s functional fitness especially as revealed by biometric sensing technology

· Abstracts from the medical world, anticipating the role the technology enabling autonomous mobility will play in healthcare

· Abstracts from the auto industry, as it foresees the role autonomous mobility will soon play in healthcare

· Abstracts from the driving/vision research arena, which this congress has presented for two decades

For questions regarding abstracts, contact either Cynthia Owsley, Ph.D. at cynthiaowsley at uabmc.edu or Philip Hessburg, M.D. at philiphessburg at gmail.com. Abstract submissions are due August 15, 2020.
