The ERC Project INSCRIBE Invention of Scripts and their Beginnings, based at the University of Bologna, Italy, seeks candidates for a postdoctoral position in interdisciplinary research with expertise in archaeology and cognitive science. The selected candidate will straddle the borders of archaeology and cognition, to analyse the evolution of graphic codes. The ideal candidate will have earned a PhD in either archaeology or cognitive science, possibly with extensive skills in early symbolic notations. His/her research results will be published in general audience, as well as specialized open-access, peer-reviewed journals, and will be presented at scientific conferences. The ideal candidate will also have strong communication skills, and expertise in disseminating scientific output. The position is renewable on a yearly basis, up to three consecutive years and crucially can be held remotely.
