Dear CVnet and Visionlist community,

Below is an add for multiple postdoctoral positions in my lab at the University of Utah
Best
Alessandra

Three NIH-funded postdoctoral positions in the Angelucci Lab at the University of Utah are immediately available to study visual cortical processing in non-human primate models. The lab (https://www.alessandraangelucci.com<https://www.alessandraangelucci.com/>) is currently investigating the anatomy and physiology of inter-areal feedback projections, and of inhibitory circuits, in primary visual and early extrastriate cortex. Methods employed include 2-photon imaging, optogenetics, multi-synaptic viral-vector tracing (TRIO), and multi-channel electrophysiology in both acute and behaving primates (macaque and marmosets). The lab is also involved in novel tool development with collaborators in electrical engineering and computer science.
Persons interested in developing careers as independent investigators are encouraged to apply. We are seeking scientists with differing expertise for each of the three positions. In general, candidates should hold a PhD in neuroscience, bioengineering, physics, computer science, psychology, or similar disciplines. A background in vision research is desirable although not required. The ideal candidate would have experience with one or more of the following: (1) In-vivo 2-photon imaging of mammalian cortex and quantitative analysis of imaging datasets; (2) Neuroanatomical techniques, including conventional tracer and viral vector injections, histological processing of tissue, immunohistochemistry and in-situ hybridization, and analysis of anatomical data; (3) Electrophysiological recordings in anesthetized or awake behaving preparations (particularly marmosets), and related quantitative analysis and computational modeling. Strong programming and quantitative skills (Matlab, Python, or C) are required for all positions, but particularly for those in imaging and physiology. Ability to work in a team is essential.
Salt Lake City is an affordable mid-sized city and hub of the mountain west. Although traditionally known for its close proximity to world-class skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking in the nearby Wasatch mountains, the city is rapidly growing and boasts burgeoning cultural, artistic, and culinary scenes. 5 National Parks all lie within a 4-hour drive of Salt Lake, and Las Vegas, Denver, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco are less than 90 minutes by air.
Candidates with an interest in these positions should send their CV and statement or research interest to:
