POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN VISUAL NEUROSCIENCE - ANGELUCCI LAB
University of Utah
An NIH-funded postdoctoral position is immediately available in the Angelucci Lab (alessandraangelucci.com<http://alessandraangelucci.com>) at the University of Utah to study the circuitry and computational function of inhibitory neurons in the non-human primate visual cortex. The approach is based on use of inhibitory-neuron specific viral methods, optogenetics and 2 photon imaging in marmosets.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in two-photon imaging of mammalian cortex, and quantitative analyses of imaging datasets, strong programming and quantitative skills, and a strong interest in developing a career as an independent investigator. The candidate will have the opportunity to learn new techniques such as electrophysiological recordings with dense probes, optogenetics and anatomical methods. A background in vision science is desirable although not required.
Salt Lake City is an affordable mid-sized city and hub of the mountain west. Although traditionally known for its close proximity to world-class skiing, hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking in the nearby Wasatch mountains, the city is rapidly growing and boasts burgeoning cultural, artistic, and culinary scenes. 5 National Parks all lie within a 4-hour drive of Salt Lake, and Las Vegas, Denver, San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco are less than 90 minutes by air.
Candidates with an interest in this position should send their CV and statement or research interest to:
