Multiple Open-Rank Tenure Track Positions – Psychological Science and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning
The Cognitive Science Department in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is part of the search for multiple open-rank, tenure-track positions at the intersections of Psychological Science (PSYC) and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning (AI/ML) to begin Fall 2022. The department offers B.S. undergraduate programs in Psychological Science, Cognitive Science, and Philosophy, and M.S. and Ph.D. graduate programs in Cognitive Science.
Ideal candidates for a PSYC-AI/ML position will be psychological scientists who:

  *   are pursuing a research agenda that makes contributions to both psychological science and AI/ML, and are enthusiastic about joint and collaborative research with AI/ML developers and practitioners
  *   are developing or using innovative techniques from statistics or machine learning to analyze, model, and interpret behavioral data, neural data, and/or non-traditional (e.g., “naturally occurring”) datasets.
  *   are developing algorithms and applications that advance research in both AI and Psychological Science
  *   contribute to the Cognitive Science Department’s broader mission: To understand the human mind by discovering the fundamental principles underlying all forms of natural and artificial intelligence, from high-level reasoning to perceptual-motor behavior.

The application process is a rolling one, with the applicant pool being reviewed multiple times per semester. For consideration for a Fall 2022 appointment, applications should be received no later than December 1, 2021. In addition to the required components of the application listed in the hire, applicants should indicate in their cover letter their interest in the Cognitive Science Department.
