A 3-year PhD scholarship is available to work on “Reducing cybersickness during head-mounted display based virtual reality” at the University of Wollongong (UOW), Australia.  The scholarship is a tax-free annual stipend of $28,092 AUD per year for 3 years (note this also covers the student’s tuition fees at the University of Wollongong). The successful candidate will work under the direct supervision of A/Prof Stephen Palmisano (UOW) and also collaborate with A/Prof Juno Kim (UNSW) and Prof Robert Allison (York University).
Essential and Desirable Criteria: Candidates must have (or will soon obtain) either an Honours degree (1st Class or 2nd Class Division 1) or a Research Masters (with at least ⅔’s of the degree comprising a thesis) in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Computer Science, Engineering, Kinesiology or Ergonomics). A background in psychophysics, psychophysiology, or human factors experimentation is desirable (i.e., experience collecting, analysing, and reporting quantitative data - e.g., on human perception or motion sickness).  Programming experience would also be an asset (e.g., VR/Graphics programming in C/C++, MATLAB, OpenGL, UNITY, UNREAL ENGINE or Data analysis skills using MATLAB or R).
