As part of the Ohio State University’s Provost’s Tenure-Track Fellow-to-Faculty initiative, the College of Optometry is seeking early-career applicants for a two-year fellowship program that will then transition automatically into a tenure-track faculty position. This program is part of the “Race, Inclusion and Social Equity (RAISE)” initiative of the Ohio State University, and it is designed to recruit scholars who will seek to improve health equity through their research, scholarship, and community engagement.

During the first two years of appointment, Provost Fellows will focus their time on research for an early start on their independent research and scholarship careers. They will also participate in activities within the College of Optometry and career development programs in the University, and they will have a designated faculty mentor. After two years, Provost Fellows will transition to the rank of Assistant Professor within the College of Optometry.


For this position, the Ohio State University College of Optometry is seeking candidates with a PhD or equivalent degree in a vision-related field of study, who are seeking an assistant professor position, and who will be eligible for tenure at the end of the probationary period. A Doctor of Optometry degree is desirable but not required. This is a 12-month position, fully-funded by the University. The candidate will be interested in recruiting, teaching, and mentoring students from diverse, under-represented and underserved communities, and the candidate’s research program will emphasize race and other health equity issues in vision care.
