*Postdoctoral Fellow – Center for Visual Science and Flaum Eye Institute,
University of Rochester *
Dr Juliette McGregor welcomes applications for a postdoctoral fellow to
join her research team working on the pre-clinical development of vision
restoration therapies. The lab specializes in cellular scale calcium
imaging in the living eye and the unique challenges of restoring foveal
vision. Current projects include a multi-center effort to advance stem cell
derived photoreceptor replacement therapy with a focus on detecting and
optimizing restored retinal function *in vivo.*
Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field and ideally a background
in pre-clinical development of regenerative therapies. Previous experience
of calcium imaging is desirable but not essential. Training in adaptive
optics calcium imaging in the living eye will be provided and this
opportunity could be a good fit for those interested in learning a new
approach as part of building toward a faculty position. Applicants should
be motivated, responsible and proactive team players who are committed to
creating a positive, supportive and productive work environment for all.
The successful candidate will have access to a range of professional
development opportunities that can be tailored to their interests. The
Center for Visual Science is a vibrant community of 40+ faculty at the
University of Rochester. Located in western New York close to Lake Ontario,
Niagara Falls and the Finger Lakes, the University offers a competitive
salary and an affordable cost of living.
For informal inquiries about the opportunity contact Juliette McGregor
jmcgrego at ur.rochester.edu. To apply please send your CV, a cover letter
describing your previous experience and interest in the position and the
contact details of 2 referees, with the subject line ‘Postdoc position’.
Applications will be reviewed on 27th June 2022 and then on a rolling basis
until the position is filled.
