The Geisler lab is looking to fill an NIH postdoctoral position in vision
science. One current line of research in the lab is directed at developing
and testing theories of visual search and identification in natural and
other complex backgrounds. Another line of research is directed at
developing and testing theories of detection, discrimination, grouping, and
the perceptual invariance of natural textures. (e.g., see
https://ctcn.utexas.edu/research.html) Computational/theoretical projects
may involve measurements and analysis of natural scene statistics,
development of Bayesian ideal and sub-ideal observers, and the development
of feedforward and recurrent neural network observers. Experimental
projects typically involve measurements of psychophysical performance and
eye movements in human observers.

Postdoctoral fellows have affiliations with the Center for Perceptual
Systems (https://liberalarts.utexas.edu/cps/) and the Center for
Theoretical and Computational Neuroscience (https://ctcn.utexas.edu/) at
the University of Texas at Austin.

If you are interested in applying for the postdoctoral position, please
send your vita and a brief statement of your scientific interests to me at
w.geisler at utexas.edu.
