Faculty Position Opening in Computer Science on AI at CIIM (UoL), Cyprus

The newly founded University of Limassol (UoL) is a continuation of the
Cyprus International Institute of Management (CIIM) that has a tradition of
academic excellence in teaching and research with a translational
potential. The University has campuses in Nicosia and in Limassol. The
newly formed program in computer science is expanding and inviting
applications for a faculty position either tenure-track at the rank of
assistant professor or tenured at the rank of associate professor or full
professor. The beginning date is between now and September/2023.
Applications are sought in the broadly defined area of artificial
intelligence in the context of computer science. A field of interest is
computer processing for human languages, that is, on natural language
processing. The methodologies of interest combine traditional
linguistics-based approaches together with data processing approaches.
Another field of interest is image processing and computer vision on topics
that range from image restoration to semantic image interpretation. There
will be an emphasis on methodologies that combine analysis with modeling of
data with machine learning and deep learning. Exceptional candidates from
other fields of computer science will also be considered. There is a
preference for methodologies that have been applied to societal, business,
or biomedical problems.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent with demonstrated
potential in teaching and research. The successful candidate is expected to
contribute to the advancement of both the department as well as her/his
research fields and communities. This will be through undergraduate and
graduate education that will include novel and developing topics. It also
has to be through the development of an externally funded research program
that will result in high quality and published results with translational
potential. UoL (formerly CIIM) is also interested in qualified candidates
that will create a diversified and inclusive faculty.
