We invite applications for a 3-year full time PhD studentship in the Department of Psychology at Durham University, UK (fully funded for UK home students). The successful candidate will join a research project funded by the Leverhulme Trust and led by Dr Anna Grubert (https://www.durham.ac.uk/staff/anna-k-grubert/). The project aims at understanding the cognitive and neural underpinnings of memory-guided visual attention.
In this position, the successful candidate will combine behavioural and electrophysiological (EEG/ERP) measures to investigate the organisational properties of memory-based attentional templates and the time course of template-guided selection. They will have a purpose-built and fully equipped EEG lab at their disposal to develop and test novel experimental paradigms and use cutting-edge neuroscientific data analysis techniques. Research costs will be fully covered by the grant. The PhD student will work alongside a collaborative and dynamic team addressing complementary research questions.
The successful candidate is expected to have a proven background of some theoretical and empirical research in cognitive psychology, experience in the field of visual selective attention is desirable. Methodological experience with EEG and ERPs is desirable.
