About the Project:

Surgical Video Understanding and Anticipation

In this project, we will explore how we can reduce the problem of situation
awareness in the operating theatre to a set of computer vision and machine
learning problems, particularly for future prediction, anticipation and
planning.

A good knowledge of fundamental topics in computer vision and deep
learning, along with strong coding skills in Python is expected. Experience
with advanced deep learning topics, particularly generative deep learning
is preferred.

The project will allow exploration of different ideas and topics, and a
chance to work with collaborators from different disciplines.

About Funding:

A competitive School of Computing Studentship consisting of the award of
tuition fees* and a maintenance grant (stipend) of £18,622 for 2023/24
(adjusted roughly in line with inflation every year) for a total of 3.5
years.

*Tuition fees awarded are equivalent of the UK fee rate of £4,712 or Non-UK
fee rate of £26,500.

This opportunity is open to all nationalities. All candidates will be
placed into the School of Computing Studentship Competition and selection
is based on academic merit. Applications will be considered on an ongoing
basis, however you are expected to start no later than the beginning of
October 2023.
