Do you find color fascinating? Want to know more about how color vision works, how to measure and manipulate color, and how color science expertise is applied in many fields?
The Munsell Color Science Laboratory (MCSL) at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) seeks motivated, open-minded graduate students for PhD and MS studies in Color Science. This is an interdisciplinary degree program drawing on physical sciences, engineering, psychology, and computer science. Our program includes courses taught by international experts in colorimetry, psychophysics, color appearance, and color physics. Our graduate students do original research in color vision, color appearance modeling, HDR displays, cultural heritage imaging, AR/VR perception, LED lighting, computer graphics, and more.
Most of our successful applicants have BS or MS degrees in Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, or Engineering. Our Color Science MS and PhD graduates work in high-tech companies including Apple, Meta, and Google, entertainment/video/display industry, paint and material industry, healthcare, as well as academic roles.
