Calling anyone who works in adaptive optics!

Celine d'Orgeville is running a really important project looking at diversity in our research communities, across all domains of AO. She would like to gather information from a large section of the community, regardless of your protected characteristics. This is a follow up to her previous work published in 2014 (https://spie.org/astronomical-telescopes-instrumentation/presentation/Gender-equity-and-diversity-in-astronomy-and-adaptive-optics/13097-51)

If you could spare time to complete the survey by Friday 7th June it would be very much appreciated and valued by our community.

If you are an individual working in, or with, adaptive optics, could you please use this link:

If you run a research group working in, or with, adaptive optics, could you also please fill in the Institutional survey (please note that this should only be completed once per location/group):

Please do pass these links on to your colleagues and group members.

This year the SPIE Adaptive Optics conference (part of the SPIE Astronomical Telescope and Instrumentation Symposium, June 16-21, 2024 in Yokohama, Japan) will include an invited presentation<https://spie.org/astronomical-telescopes-instrumentation/presentation/Gender-equity-and-diversity-in-astronomy-and-adaptive-optics/13097-51> discussing gender demographics and inclusion, diversity, equity and access (IDEA) initiatives in the international Adaptive Optics community. The results of this survey will be summarised there. The deadline above is to allow analysis of the results before the conference.

Best wishes,

Laura - on behalf of:

Prof. Celine d’Orgeville (Australian National University, ANU), on behalf of the 2024 survey team:
