*_PhD and Post-doc position available in Switzerland _*
One PhD and one post-doc position are available in the Visual and
Cognitive Neuroscience Lab, headed by Petra Vetter at the Dept. of
Psychology of the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. The positions
are funded by a Swiss Consolidator Grant (“Mapping Space in the Blind
Brain”) to study space representation in the brain of congenitally blind
individuals. The projects will involve designing auditory and tactile
spatial localisation experiments, recruitment and testing of
congenitally blind individuals and sighted participants, using
ultra-high field fMRI at 7 Tesla, advanced fMRI analysis methods and TMS.
Information on past and current research in the lab can be found on the
lab website: https://www.unifr.ch/psycho/en/research/vcnl/
*_PhD position _*_(fully funded for 3 years, with a possible extension
to 4 years):**_

- Masters degree in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or related field,
with a minimum grade of a Swiss 5 (= 2^nd best grade, equivalent to a UK
2.1/German 2/US B)
- Experience in psychological lab experimentation
- Basic programming skills and/or high motivation to become proficient
in programming
- Strong analytical and statistical skills
- Ability to work independently
- Good scientific writing and communication skills (in English)

psychophysics, fMRI, TMS, EEG.
*_Post-doc position _*_(funding available for 3.5 years):_
Required qualifications and skills:
- PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience or related field, e.g. Psychology,
Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Computer Science, Engineering or similar

- Experience in designing, conducting and analysing fMRI experiments
- Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, documented by
peer-reviewed publications
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to supervise junior students
Desired:
- Experience in advanced fMRI analysis methods, e.g. population
receptive field modelling, multi-variate pattern analysis,
representational similarity analysis, retinotopic mapping or
machine-learning approaches.
- Experience with 7 Tesla fMRI
- Experience in conducting TMS experiments.
The positions do not require teaching, but there is the opportunity to
gain teaching and supervision experience. The University of Fribourg is
a bilingual university (French & German). Basic French or German
language skills are an advantage but not a requirement.
Switzerland is multilingual and multicultural, offers a high standard of
living and great opportunities for outdoor activities. Fribourg is a
vibrant student city located between Bern and Lausanne, both lie within
easy commuting distance. Zurich and Geneva are commutable, too. Salaries
are in accordance with the guidelines of the Swiss National Science
Foundation and the University of Fribourg. Start dates are flexible, for
the PhD position the ideal start date would be autumn 2024.
Informal enquiries and applications including CV, motivation letter and
contact details of at least 2 referees should be sent to
petra.vetter at unifr.ch. Applications received by 22 July 2024 will be
reviewed first (later applications may be considered if no suitable
