Dear vision friends,
it’s my great pleasure to announce that we’ll be hosting the 67th TeaP20025 (short for lovely long German: „Tagung experimentell arbeitender Psychologen:innen“, which translates to something like "Conference for Experimental Psychologists") in Frankfurt at our beautiful Goethe University Campus from March, 9th to March, 12th, 2025.
TeaP is our largest annual meeting of cognitive psychologists (typically attended by about 700 to 800 participants) who meet to discuss the latest and greatest in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology. It has traveled to different cities in Germany since 1958, and while it used to be very “German” (I remember giving my first conference talk there as a PhD student being one of the few giving their talks in English… and I am not THAT told), in the past decade it has become increasingly international, hosted also in London and the official conference language now being English 😉, so that we attract more and more cognitive psychologists from all over the world.
We have a great lineup of keynote speakers for TeaP2025. Amongst this vision crowd, Jeremy Wolfe <https://search.bwh.harvard.edu/new/> (Harvard Medical School, USA) needs no further introduction/advertisement for his seminal work on visual attention/search. But we also feature Merle Fairhurst <https://tu-dresden.de/ing/elektrotechnik/ias/aha/die-professur/Mitarbeiter/merle-fairhurst> (TU Dresden, Germany) who will share her expertise on social interactions, e.g. social touch in infants, as well as Jörg Gross <http://www.joerg-gross.net/> (University of Zurich, Switzerland), who will present some of his latest and greatest on intergroup cooperation. You can find more infos on our TeaP website <https://coms.app/TeaP2025/welcome.html>. Keeping checking the website while we keep filling it with more infos as time moves on.
So save the date and take this as a great opportunity to visit us in “Main-hatten”! Located at the heart of Europe, Frankfurt (am Main) is one of the most international cities in Germany with a vibrant and international community of (no, not only bankers, but) cognitive neuroscientists, cognitive psychologists, computational modellers, and vision scientists. But even outside of academia you’ll find a rich landscape of museums, theatres, parks and “Apfelweinkneipen”, where you can drink the typical Frankfurt “Apfelwein” (wine made out of apples) or eat “Grüne Soße” (sounds horrible, but is actually a quite delicious sauce made out of yogurt and 7 herbs). And once you have seen it all in Frankfurt, you can go on to visit Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Zurich, Luxembourg, Hamburg, Berlin, Munich, and/or the pristine Alps all within just 4 hours train ride.
Anyway, seeing Jeremy as a keynote speaker should be reason enough to join us at TeaP2025, but I hope I was able to give you some more reasons to come visit us in Frankfurt next March as well.
Also mark in your calendars: Symposia can be submitted September 1st – October 20th, 2024, submission for abstracts will be open October 21st – November 30th, 2024.
Feel free to spread the word to non-vision folks, since the nice thing about TeaP is that we are for once not ONLY talking about vision 🙃
Now have a great summer,
Melissa
