Subject Coordinator opportunity at UC Berkeley: Low vision rehabilitation research

Applications are invited for a full-time subject coordinator position in the lab of Susana Chung at UC Berkeley Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry and Vision Science.  The position is supported by a research grant from NIH that aims to understand how the brain adapts to central vision loss.  

The position is ideal for someone who has completed their undergraduate studies and would like to work in a research environment, or someone who would like some time off after their undergraduate degree and before joining a PhD program.  Patience, attention to details, great organization skills, ability to work with a team of people, and an interest in working with the elderly and people with disabilities are necessary qualities.  There will be ample opportunity to learn about research and the techniques (specifically, eye movement measurements, high-resolution retinal imaging, clinical optometric techniques, programming) employed in the lab.  

The successful applicant should have, or will be completing their undergraduate studies this year, preferably in a discipline related to Vision Science, Engineering, Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science etc.  Experience in research is not a prerequisite.

Salary will follow the UC Berkeley Represented Specialist Series scale.  The position is available immediately, but the start date could be somewhat flexible for the ideal candidate.  Initial appointment will be for two years, with possible continuation based on performance.
