Dear Vision science community,
The international low vision conference Vission2025, to be held in Florence,
Italy, Sept. 8-12, has extended its abstract submission deadline Please see
below.
This conference is by far the most diverse gathering of low vision researchers
in the world. The anticipated attendance of over 1,000 specialists in low
vision care, research, and rehabilitation will provide a unique opportunity for
researchers interested in low vision to present their work, learn from
colleagues around the world, and forge new collaborations and friendships.
The conference website www.vision2025florence.com provides information about
the program of keynote speeches and invited symposia, and how to submit
abstracts before the March 14 deadline.
Thanks in advance for your interest,

"What makes the Low Vision Congress 2025 unique compared to previous
editions?"
Patients don´t just want to live with their impairment; they want to stop their
vision from getting worse.
They often ask questions like: Can I avoid becoming visually impaired?
If I´m already impaired, is there a way to keep my condition from getting
worse?
Can I maintain the vision I still have over time?
Previous approaches to low vision rehabilitation have not sufficiently
addressed these concerns.
The result is that patients often feel demotivated and may even stop their
rehabilitation efforts if they don´t see a way to preserve or improve their
vision.?
"Vision 2025: A New Approach"
The goal of Vision 2025 is to introduce a broader, more comprehensive approach
to low vision rehabilitation. This new perspective seeks to not only support
patients in adapting to their current visual limitations, but also to explore
opportunities for clinical improvements in their visual function. To make
things better, we should focus on a few key areas of the visual process, such
as:
Improving fixation stability, Activating inactive neuro-retinal cells,
Improving cellular metabolism.
