Just sending this as a reminder for anyone who's interested, maybe especially graduate students: this weekend I'm teaching an online course (see below) on running experiments in Unity, including experiments in VR. This is part of the Color and Imaging Conference, which is in Hong Kong this year. In the EDT time zone, the course will be Sunday evening, 8:30 pm - 12:45 am. It's possible to take the course without registering for the conference, which reduces the fee. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Subject: online course on Unity and VR
In case this is of interest, I'm teaching a short course at the Color and Imaging Conference this fall, on creating experiments with Unity and VR. The conference is in Hong Kong, but the course will be online (no in-person component). The course will be held on Monday, October 27, 8:30 am - 12:45 pm Hong Kong time, which for comparison is Sunday, October 26, 8:30 pm - 12:45 am EST.
Unity is a great environment for running experiments in 3D rendered scenes, but there are many, not always well-documented details that have to be handled right in order to create well-controlled stimuli. I'll cover those in this course, and one of the main benefits of attending is that you may save a lot of time compared to figuring out those details on your own.
I'll also cover aspects of Unity that aren't common in other psychophysical environments, such as the C# language, luminance calibration via tonemapping, and coding an experiment through callback functions.
Feel free to write to me (rfm at yorku.ca) with questions about the course. You can find more information here:
