VSS Travel Grant Applications are Open 

VSS is accepting applications for Travel Grants to support attendance at the VSS 2026 Annual Meeting. These grants are intended to help offset travel and meeting costs for individuals with demonstrated financial need and are available to trainees at all levels, from undergraduates to postdoctoral researchers, including researchers between degrees. Support is available to both U.S. based and international attendees.

Undergraduate members may apply before submitting an abstract and may use the just-in-time abstract submission option. Travel Grant decisions will be communicated prior to the just-in-time abstract deadline. All other applicants must be the first author on a submitted abstract or plan to submit via just-in-time submission.

The Travel Grant program seeks to expand participation at VSS by supporting individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and those facing significant financial barriers. Funding is provided through multiple sources, including the NSF, NIH, Elsevier, and private donations. Individuals who have previously received a VSS Travel Grant are not eligible to apply, with the exception of awardees from 2020 and 2021.

Applications will be evaluated based on scientific quality of the abstract (except for undergraduates using just-in-time submission), financial need, and applicant background.

An awardee dinner for undergraduate Travel Grant recipients will take place on Saturday evening during the meeting.

1. 2.  On your account home page, click the 'Apply for a Travel Grant' button. Note that you will only see this button if you meet the criteria above.

3.  Complete the Travel Grant Application form.

Applications will be accepted through the end of day on January 19, 2026. Grant recipients will be announced on February 19, 2026.
