[Dora Selma Fix Ventura]

The Visual Psychophysics and Electrophysiology Lab at the Department of
Experimental Psychology, University of São Paulo,  invites applications for
a four year FAPESP funded research fellowship within the the Thematic
Project “Mechanisms, Genetics, and Performance of the Visual System:
Clinical Research in Humans and Animal Experimentation,” coordinated by
Professor Dora Fix Ventura, for the development of the subproject below.

The subproject will investigate visual losses in Age-Related Macular
Degeneration (AMD), a progressive degenerative retinal condition whose
evolution leads to severe impairment of central vision. From a functional
perspective, it is hypothesized that both structural retinal alterations,
such as those occurring in AMD, and transient physiological states, such as
those associated with night-shift work, may impact visual system
performance.

The research will employ psychophysical, electrophysiological,
physiological, cognitive, and biological marker assessments to evaluate
visual function and investigate these clinical conditions and contextual
factors.

Applicants should hold a recent PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a
related field in Visual Neuroscience. Experience in electrophysiology,
visual psychophysics, psychological and neuropsychological assessment is
desirable.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected
candidate will receive a FAPESP Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of
R$ 12,570.00 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of
the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent on items directly
related to the research activity.
