Scope of the School
The aim of this online school is to provide an introduction to investigating the visual system and its
biomarkers in psychiatric disease. This includes an overview of the different types of psychiatric
diseases, the structure and function of the eye and visual pathways, techniques used to study the
eye and visual pathways, and biomarkers that have been discovered in psychiatric disease. The goal
is to bring together those from a wide range of fields, including psychiatry and ophthalmology, to
highlight the way these disciplines can complement each other and enable new discoveries.

The school will include 4 sessions, including:
• Retina and Techniques for Imaging and Measuring Its Function
• Eye (excluding Retina) and Techniques for Imaging and Measuring Its Function
• Post Retinal Visual System
• Methods to Study Perception and the Post-Retinal Visual System
