*IS&T Color & Imaging Conference**Call For Papers & Short Course Proposals*
We are pleased to announce that the *34th Color and Imaging Conference*

will be held from November 2-6, 2026, in *Barcelona, Spain*. We are excited
to be back in Europe after a very successful year in Asia, and looking
forward to building on the momentum. In addition, Barcelona is the 2026
UNESCO-UIA World Capital for Architecture - what a year to engage with the
local community and history of the city. With the final and tallest element
of the *Sagrada Família* placed on February 20, 2026—bringing the iconic
basilica to 172.5 meters and making it the tallest church in the
world—conference attendees can be among the first to experience this
historic milestone.
We invite submissions for the *CIC34* across a broad range of topics in
color science and imaging. Areas of interest include *color perception and
cognition, capture and reproduction, material and color appearance,
illumination and lighting, color theory, image quality, multispectral
imaging, *and *specific color applications,* as well as emerging areas such
as *computer graphics,* *motion picture imaging pipelines,* *machine
learning and AI,* *game development,* and *color in architecture and art*.

We welcome submissions addressing one or more of the following areas:
*Color Perception and Cognition: *Visual adaptation, visual psychophysics,
color vision deficiency, individual differences, salience and attention,
psychological effects of color, spatial and temporal color vision, color
constancy, metamerism, color semiotics, color language, color harmony,
memory color, comparative color vision
*Capture and Reproduction:* Image capture, 360° capture, sensing,
multi-modal capture, multi-primary displays, display technologies, mobile
color imaging, white balancing, computational photography, color printing,
special effects printing, multi-ink printing, high dynamic range (HDR),
pseudo-color and data visualization, color workflows
*Material and Color Appearance:* Material appearance capture, appearance
reproduction, and modeling (gloss, translucence, etc.), color appearance
models (CAMs), color 3D printing, color in 3D, 3D CAD modeling, 3D
scanning, spatial color models, computer generated imagery (CGI)
*Color in Illumination and Lighting:* Color rendering, color mixing, light
projection, illuminant metamerism, multi-illumination imaging, atmosphere,
quality of light
*Color Theory:* Colorimetry, uniform color spaces, expanded color spaces,
models of color perception, mathematical models of color, environmental
statistic
*Image Quality: *Color image processing, color gamut mapping, computational
imaging, color difference metrics, color preference, color fidelity
*Multispectral Imaging:* Spectral-based image capture, processing and
analysis; image quality, visualization, display and reproduction; spectral
optimization of imaging systems, spectral image applications
*Specific Color Applications:* Cultural heritage applications, color in
cinema and broadcast video, user interfaces, medical and dental imaging,
biomedical prosthetics, security applications, camouflage, paints,
coatings, nano-materials
*Color in Computer Graphics: *AR/VR/MR (augmented, virtual, and mixed
reality), efficient encoding color spaces, color-based throughput
optimizations, rendering for variable environment or viewing conditions,
video games, color transfer, image relighting, computer generated imagery
(CGI)
*Motion Picture Imaging Pipelines:* Novel color management for motion
picture workflows - tone mapping, color matching, correction, creative
grading. Virtual and augmented production systems and algorithms. Many
inputs to multi-deliverable color pipelines.
*Color in Machine Learning and AI:* Deep learning and neural networks,
learned color representations, image colorization, color for image and
scene classification, generative models, color augmentation/editing
strategies, foundation models, semantics and embeddings, color-aware
transfer learning, anomaly and defect detection, color-based datasets and
benchmarks
*Color in Game Development:* Real-time color rendering, physically based
rendering (PBR), tone mapping and HDR in gaming, color in game engines, art
direction and color palettes, procedural color generation, color in VFX and
particle systems, color accessibility and inclusivity
*Color in Architecture and Art:* Architectural color design, urban color
and streetscape palettes, color in interior environments, daylight–color
interactions, stained glass and colored lighting, material and façade
color, pigment and surface aging, architectural heritage color
reconstruction and conservation, color in public art and installations,
multispectral imaging for art analysis, cultural symbolism and narrative
uses of color

We are now accepting *Short Course proposals for the 34th Color and Imaging
Conference*. These courses complement the technical program and provide
attendees with in-depth learning opportunities through *2-, 4-, and 8-hour
sessions* taught by leading academic and industry experts from around the
world.
We'd like to invite proposals on topics related to color science, imaging,
and emerging technologies. Share your expertise with the CIC community and
