CALL FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST IN THE PHD PROGRAMME IN PSYCHOLOGY



Neapolis University Pafos (NUP) opened the call for three (3) PhD positions in Psychology. Applicants must have a Master’s degree in Psychology or relevant scientific fields, awarded by universities recognized by the Republic of Cyprus.



The topic of the proposal can be in any area covered by the expertise of the faculty of NUP, such as Clinical, Counselling, Cognitive, Experimental, Educational, Developmental Psychology and Neuropsychology.

Interested applicants are encouraged to review the facilities of the University and the research interests of the faculty members of the Psychology Department, whose CVs can be found on the University’s webpage (www.nup.ac.cy<http://www.nup.ac.cy/>). Interested parties are also encouraged to contact any faculty member for additional help and guidance before submitting their application.

Example of research topics of particular interest for the Department<http://www.nup.ac.cy/schools/school-of-health-sciences/> are Visual Perception, Perception and Action, Embodied Cognition,  Contextual, Semantic and Action Effects on Visual Perception, Body Image,  Eating Disorders,Therapy and Prevention of Psychosocial problems, Positive Psychology, Social Aspects of Mental Health, Development of Sociocognitive Processes, their Educational Consequences and their Impact in the Development of Political Ideology, Support of Children with Special Educational Needs, Multicultural Education, the Developmental Path of Cognitive and Linguistic Skills in Children, Violence and Delinquency.



Along with the online application, the applicants should also submit the following documents, as PDF files:

1.      Research proposal

2.      Undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters) degrees

3.      CV

4.      Two recommendation letters

5.      Portfolio (research work / publications / supporting material)

6.      Certificate of foreign languages (preferably English) (I.E.L.T.S score 5.5 or above, TOEFL score 513 or above).

All the documents (original or official translation) should be in Greek or English.



Knowledge of Greek language is preferred but not required. Non-Greek speakers are also encouraged to apply as long as they have good knowledge of English. All candidates with a positive assessment of the assessment criteria (undergraduate and postgraduate grades, other degrees, publications and conference talks/posters, scholarships, awards and distinctions) will be invited at the second phase of the selection, which will be an interview.  Applicants can also be interviewed by Skype.
