The Vision & Cognition lab (Roelfsema lab) at the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience in Amsterdam has an outstanding opportunity for a Postdoctoral position (full-time for 3 years) or a PhD position (full-time 4 years) to investigate the neural mechanisms underlying learning in humans.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and self-driven PhD candidate OR Postdoctoral fellow to join a research project funded by a NWA ‘Startimpuls’ grant. The position involves a fulltime temporary appointment for 3 years (postdoc) or 4 years (PhD student). Starting date: Mid-2018.

PhD candidates will be expected to have programming experience (e.g. MATLAB) and a Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Neuroscience, (Neuro) Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Computational Neuroscience, Physics). Postdoctoral candidates will be expected to have experience with fMRI techniques and/or electrophysiological techniques in humans or animals and a solid background in cognitive neuroscience. Experience with computational modelling would also be considered a plus. All candidates must be able to speak Dutch to a reasonable level as the project involves closely working with Dutch patients.

The Roelfsema lab is part of the Netherlands Institute for Neurosciences and forms part of a dynamic and internationally successful institute. The imaging work will be conducted together with the Spinoza Center for Neuroimaging and single-unit recordings will be performed in collaboration with the VUmc medical center and UMC Utrecht.
