Dear colleagues,

We have an interesting tenure track position available. Description is below, and the link is here <https://www.tudelft.nl/over-tu-delft/werken-bij-tu-delft/vacatures/details?jobId=5002&jobTitle=Tenure%20Track%20position%20Cognition%20&%20Design>.

All the best,
Maarten Wijntjes

Job description
The department Human-Centered Design (HCD) is recruiting an assistant professor who is able to expand our design research in the area of cognition and design.

This Tenure Track will focus on fundamental studies into human capacities and human-system interaction in the context of the new relationships that result from changing perspectives on design, such as a systems view, human and artificial intelligence, and interaction dynamics. You will specifically focus on cognitive human factors for complex systems and human-agent interaction.

Building this new research line will require knowledge about attention, memory, workload, decision making, and situational awareness. In addition, expertise will need to be developed in how to apply this knowledge in complex system design, optimizing human-system interactions in order to create symbiotic relationships and cognitive-intuitive information interaction. Application areas can include health care, mobility, and intelligent systems.

Education will include courses at BSc and MSc levels, such as Cognitive Ergonomics for Complex Systems, Human Factors & Ergonomics, and Advanced Concept Design.

Requirements
You enjoy the scientific challenges of doing design research. You are pioneering in your approach, something which will help you excel in an interdisciplinary environment where designers and researchers work across research groups, and together contribute to the larger research agenda of the department, faculty and university. Through research and teaching you will inspire your colleagues and our students.

All candidates should meet the following essential criteria:

• You have a background in design, human factors or social sciences;
• You have a demonstrable ability to conduct design-related research;
• You have a PhD in a cognition- and/or design-related area;
• You have a track record of conference and journal publications;
• You have a collaborative attitude towards research.

In addition, the following criteria are considerd a plus;
• You have a track record in applying, or contributing to applications, for external  research funding;
• You have experience in supervising Masters and/or PhD students;
• You have a postdoc or the equivalent of at least two years of postdoctoral experience;
• You have experience of working in international collaborations;
• You bring a designerly approach to problem solving and advocacy for design;
• You have experience in teaching in higher education

We strongly encourage you to apply even when you do not (yet) meet the above mentioned desirable criteria.
