PhD opportunities in Cognitive Psychology and Neuroscience at the University of Delaware
The Cognitive Psychology area in the Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences <https://www.psych.udel.edu/> at the University of Delaware is accepting multiple PhD students for the fall of 2024. The primary goal of the cognitive psychology graduate program is training a new generation of theoretically focused scientists to understand the mind and brain. The Center for Biomedical and Brain Imaging <http://cbbi.udel.edu/> houses a 3T Siemens Prisma MRI scanner plus a new Siemens 3T Cima.X scanner (summer 2024), and we provide extensive training in neuroimaging, EEG, TMS, eye tracking, computational modeling, and behavioral experiments. The department is housed in a new research building, opening in Fall 2024, that provides an exciting and collaborative space for conducting groundbreaking research.

Faculty accepting students are:

Helene Intraub <https://www.psych.udel.edu/people/intraub> How does the brain/mind represent the scenes that surround us? What do memory errors reveal about the mind?
Adrian Gilmore <https://gilmorememorylab.com/> How do we remember events from our past? How do the brain's functional networks support this capacity?
Alon Hafri <https://www.alonhafri.com/> How do language and perception connect in the mind? What can this connection tell us about the conceptual system?
Keith Schneider <https://www.psych.udel.edu/people/keithas> What are the fundamental principles governing the operation of the brain that cause our conscious perceptions? What are the temporal dynamics of perception?
Maryam Vaziri-Pashkam <https://www.psych.udel.edu/people/mvaziri> How does our brain process the visual input so that we can interact with objects and people in our environment?
Tim Vickery <https://www.psych.udel.edu/people/tvickery> How does the brain understand the structure of the visual world, and how does structure interact with other aspects of perception?
Robert West <https://www.psych.udel.edu/people/rwest> How do our interactions with digital technology influence decision-making and cognitive control?

The application deadline is December 1, 2023. Applicants are encouraged to contact one or more of the faculty above before applying. For more information about our program (including admission), please see the cognitive graduate program FAQ <https://www.psych.udel.edu/graduate/areas-of-study/cognitive-psychology/faq>. UD is a collaborative and supportive environment in which students have additional training opportunities in the Data Science Institute <https://dsi.udel.edu/>, Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Graduate Program <https://www.udel.edu/academics/colleges/grad/prospective-students/programs/interdisciplinary/interdisciplinary-neuroscience/>, and the departments of Linguistics and Cognitive Science <https://lingcogsci.udel.edu/>, Education <https://education.udel.edu/>, Computer and Information Sciences <https://cis.udel.edu/>, and more. Newark, Delaware, is located two hours from New York City or Washington, DC, and one hour from Philadelphia.
