Expanded Online Symposium Opportunities


 

Symposium applications are due November 14, 2025. The VSS Board will select
six symposia to be presented at the VSS 2026 Annual Meeting in May.

 

NEW THIS YEAR: VSS is launching a series of virtual events -- an exclusive
benefit for VSS members! In addition to the in-person symposia at the annual
meeting, VSS will host online symposia throughout the year, both before and
after the May meeting.

 

If your symposium is not selected for the in-person meeting this year, we
will offer some of the applicants the option of holding their symposium
online at another time. These symposia will include online participation and
Q&A, be recorded and available for viewing by the membership after the
event, and be published in the Journal of Vision.

 

Symposia will be selected by the VSS Board of Directors on the basis of
scientific merit, timeliness, theoretical and/or methodological innovation,
breadth and appeal to a substantial number of VSS attendees, diversity of
the speakers, and overlap (less being better) with last year's symposia and
with the regular program. Symposia often benefit from a diversity of
perspective and institutional affiliations. Proposals from early career
investigators are particularly encouraged.

 

You must be a 2026 member to submit. You can join VSS or renew your
membership through your MyVSS Account. For more information on submitting a
