Applications Open: UC Berkeley Vision Science Graduate Program

Dear Colleagues and Prospective Students,

Are you interested in pursuing graduate training in vision science and becoming part of a vibrant, interdisciplinary research community?

The UC Berkeley Vision Science Graduate Program is now welcoming applications from highly motivated students interested in understanding vision from multiple perspectives, including biomedical optics, clinical vision science, computational vision, molecular and cell biology in relation to the visual system, visual neuroscience and neurobiology, visual perception and cognition, and related areas.

Our program brings together faculty and researchers across disciplines, providing students with opportunities to pursue innovative research while receiving rigorous training in vision science. Students benefit from interactions with a diverse community of scientists and access to the outstanding research environment at UC Berkeley. Our alumni are represented on the faculty of world-class universities and in a wide range of disciplines spanning optometry, psychology, physiology, bioengineering, and ophthalmology. Many others hold research positions in private institutes and federally sponsored agencies, including NASA and the NIH. Still, others can be found in the research and development divisions of the industry. Ophthalmic, biotechnology and large technology companies are among the major recruiters of our graduates.

We encourage applications from students with strong backgrounds in psychology, neuroscience, biology, computer science, engineering, optometry, or related fields who are excited about pursuing research in vision science.
